This study evaluated the effect of resveratrol and ascorbic acid, applied individually and in combination, on the efficiency of in vitro bovine embryo production using sexed and unsexed semen. The research was carried out at the Animal Reproduction Biotechnology Laboratory of the ESPE Armed Forces University, Ecuador, using a completely randomized experimental design. The stages of in vitro oocyte maturation, in vitro fertilization, and embryo culture were analyzed using analysis of variance and Tukey's test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed that ascorbic acid supplementation significantly improved the oocyte maturation rate compared to the control group without antioxidants. During in vitro fertilization, the use of ascorbic acid in combination with sexed semen resulted in the highest rates of fertilized oocytes. In the embryo culture stage, treatment with ascorbic acid showed greater stability and efficiency in embryo production. However, the combination of resveratrol and ascorbic acid demonstrated a positive effect on morula and blastocyst production. It is concluded that the addition of antioxidants to culture media contributes to reducing oxidative stress, improving embryo quality and the efficiency of in vitro production of bovine embryos.
